Meeting Place and Times

All Merced Trips meet at the Whit Water Excitement meeting area in Midpines, CA, located just 7 miles East of Mariposa. Please see below for a full set of directions. Meeting time for the Merced tip is 8:00am sharp.

 Directions

The town of Merced is located on Highway 99. Once in Merced, take Highway 140 east through Mariposa toward Yosemite National Park. Seven miles past Mariposa, is the town of Midpines. Located on the left side of Highway 140, ust past the MT. VIEW GROCERY STORE (located on your right), is our MEETING AREA. Look for our WWE Vans. We'll have a Whitewater Excitement Sign posted to help you out!. Park in the Parking area and then come meet us at the Check-In Table and the WWE Staff will be there to help.

 What to Bring

One day trips we suggest that you bring a swim suit or shorts, tennis shoes or Teva type sandles, sunglasses with retaining device, hat, lip balm, sun block, pile or poly-pro sweater along with a windbreaker in case of cool weather, garbage bag to store wet clothes, disposable waterproof camera, a small amount of money for souvenirs, and finally an extra set of clothes and dry shoes (left in the car) for the trip home.

Wet suits are required to be worn during the spring (prior to Memorial Day) and during HIGH WATER periods, which have been known last until mid-June. The wet suits are provide by WWE for all passengers who are under 6' 5" and 240lbs. For those of you over these heights and weights, wet suits can be rented at a local dive or surf shop. For your safety, guests who do not have wet suits when required will not be able to participate in the trip.

Equipment for our two day trips include all of the above, as well as sleeping bag and ground pad, dry, warm camp clothes such as dry shoes, long pants, shirt, sweater or jacket, personal and toiletry items, flashlight, and finally a tent (optional after Memorial Day).

 Meals

Guests joining us on our day trip will be provided with an always impressive riverside deli-styled buffet lunch that includes an all you can eat sandwich bar with a variety of meats, breads, cheeses, veggies, pasta or potato salad, potato chips, fresh fruits, cookies, and ice cold drinks.

Our day trips include several additional meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner on day one and two of the trip. All meals include fresh vegetables and fruit, and hot & cold beverages served with entrees. Evening meals consist of Grilled Chicken, Filet Mignon, French bread, Cesear Salad, Corn on the Con, Baked Potato Bar, Wine, Beer, Sodas, and our fantastic Dutch Oven Baked Desserts.

The BLM camp areas are located directly on the banks of the Merced, approximately 4 miles from our meeting area. These are rustic camp sites with no running water and pit type toilets.

 Weather

Weather conditions are variable and can change from day to day. For the most up to date conditions and accurate click on NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. The average Spring time temperature is in the 70-80 degree range, however, cooler rainy weather is possible, so be prepared with rain jackets, wet suits, pile or poly-pro sweaters. We will only cancel a trip in the case of severe stormy conditions. Summer temperatures range in the high 80's to 100's. Summer evening temps are in the 60's.
