North Fork One Day Trip Information Sheet [get PDF reader software]
All trips on the North ForkAmericanRiver will meet near the city of Colfax, 15 miles east of Auburn.
The scheduled meeting times will depend on the particular trip you are taking and will vary from the night prior to the trip for most two day trips, to between 7:30 a.m. and 12 noon for all one day trips.
If you are coming from either Northern or Southern California drive first to the city of Sacramento. Once in the Sacramento area, take Interstate 80 east to Reno, travelling past Roseville and Auburn. Once you’ve reached 10 miles past Auburn, you’ll find yourself in the town of Weimar, where you will look for the WEIMAR-CROSS ROADS EXIT. Turn right at the exit and park in the Park and Pool lot right there. Look for the Whitewater Excitement Vans(s).
If you are starting in the South Lake Tahoe area, take Highway 50 west towards Placerville. At the Highway 49 sign, turn right onto Spring Street. Now follow Highway 49 towards Coloma, then on to Auburn. In Auburn you’ll look for Interstate 80 east, take this towards Reno. 10 miles past Auburn is the town of Weimar. Take the WEIMAR-CROSS ROADS EXIT, turn to the right and park in the Park and Pool lot right there. Look for the Whitewater Excitement Vans(s).
For those opf you coming from the North Lake Tahoe area, you’ll start out on the Interstate 80 west towards Colfax. Just west of Colfax, look for the WEIMAR-CROSS ROADS EXIT, turn left here and cross over the freeway, turn right and park in the Park and Pool lot. Look for the Whitewater Excitement Vans(s).

At the Coloma meeting area, Whitewater Excitement has a small store with many different items for sale. Sweatshirts, T-shirts, sandals and river shorts, hats, along with waterproof cameras, sunscreen, lib balm, plus many camping items, drinks and snacks. The store will be open in the morning before & afternoon after your trip.
On day trips guests will need to bring shorts or a swim suit, Teva type sandals or tennis shoes, sunglasses, hat, lip balm, sun block, pile or poly-pro sweater along with a windbreaker in the case of cooler weather, a disposable waterproof camera, a small amount of money for souvenirs, garbage bag for wet clothes, and most importantly, a dry set of clothes in the car and dry shoes for the trip home.
Guests are required to wear wet suits during the Spring (prior to Memorial Day) as well as times of HIGH WATER, which has been known to last until mid-June. Wet Suits are provided by WWE for all of our guests under 6' 5" and 250 lbs. Those over these heights and weights will need to rent a suit from a local dive or surf shop. For your safety,guests without wet suits when required will not be able to participate in the trip.
Two Day Trips you will need the above equipment, as well as a sleeping bag and ground pad, tent (optional after Memorial Day), camp clothes (long pants, dry shoes, shirt, jacket or sweater, personal toiletry items, flashlight and insect repellant.
Guests on our one day trips are provided with a delicious riverside deli-styled buffet lunch included a plentiful sandwich bar with a variety of meats, breads, cheeses, veggies, pasta or potato salad, potato chips, fresh fruits, cookies and ice cold drinks.
Guests on our two day trips are provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner on both days. All meals include fresh veggies and fruit, and cold and hot beverages. Dinners consist of Grilled Chicken, Filet Mignon, Cesear Salad, Baked Potato, French Bread, Corn on the Cob, Wine, Sodas and Beer, and our Great Dutch Oven Baked Desserts.
WWE has our own private camp area, reserved only for WWE Guests, located on the South Fork banks of the American river. Our campsite facilities include bathrooms with flush toilets, hot showers, sinks and mirrors, a recreation areas with volleyball, horseshoe pits, ping pong and basketball. All of our camp areas are assigned befor you arrive, and are group areas. Smaller sized groups could be sharing an area with another smaller sized group.

Weather conditions can, of course, vary. For the most up to date conditions view the NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
website. Spring time temperatures are generally in the range of 70-80 degrees, however, wet and cool weather can happen, so be prepared with rain jackets, wet suits, poly – pro or pile sweaters. We will only cancel a trip due to severe stormy conditions. Summer temperatures range between the high 80's to 100's. Summer evening temps are typically in the 60's.
